New Lines to my Store Coming Soon

Posted by Simon Harrison on Sunday, May 24, 2020, In : New Products
I have been working on a few different leather items for me.
I have always been badgered by a friend of mine to make some leather watch straps. I have been putting him off as I have never made anything as thin and small as a watch strap! Anyway I have made a few now and given them out for testing. The first ones use buckles that I already have. But bridle buckles are a bit big so I will have to change that. Holes need to be smaller so I will be on the lookout for some smaller punches. And the ...

New Leather

Posted by Simon Harrison on Monday, June 11, 2018, In : New Products
I have decided to add some new leather to my line up.

Sedgwick & Co have been producing English Leather since 1900. They use English cattle hides that can be traced to the select few suppliers. These suppliers can provide information of where the animal lived and how old it is.
They have Bridle Butts and Bridle Backs in a variety of colours.
Bridle Butts. Used in almost all of my handmade leather goods;
  • Australian nut
  • Black
  • Burgandy
  • Chocolate
  • Conker
  • Dark Green
  • Dark Havana
  • Hazel
  • Light Havana
  • London Tan
  • Navy...

Free Running Loop

Posted by Simon Harrison on Sunday, September 3, 2017, In : New Products

This is one of my Multi-Length Leather Dog Leads with the addition of a free running solid brass ring.
But what is it?
A running ring is placed between the trigger hook and the handle. It is free to move around along the length of the lead, but it will not slide off as it is smaller than the trigger hook and handle.
What can it do?
If you attach your trigger hook to the ring you have a nice slip collar. Great for when your dog returns and you find that they have lost their collar! (I make these ...

Douglas Handmade Leather Belt

Posted by Simon Harrison on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, In : New Products

One of my new belts for 2017. The Douglas Handmade Leather Belt.

Made to measure for the perfect fit in my workshop in Mister-on-Sea, in Great Britain.

Buckle

A solid Brass Swelled West End buckle is used on the Douglas leather belt. This buckle is a traditional buckle design with great looks. Being solid brass means that there is no rust giving years of use without detracting from style.

Stitching

Three lines of Oakside Signature hand stitching. Using traditional saddlery stitching skills and ha...

New Design Plaited Leather Dog Collar

Posted by Simon Harrison on Thursday, June 9, 2016, In : New Products
So I have made a new deign of plaited leather dog collar. This collar merges the working dog collar style with a plaited collar. Because, lets face it some working dogs deserve a bit of style!

The first thing that you notice is the solid brass West End buckle providing years of rust free use. The dee ring is at the very end and two fixed loops keep the pint well and truly under control. The leather is a reverse turn here, meaning that the inside of the collar, against your dogs neck, is as smo...

Handmade Plaited Leather Camera Straps

Posted by Simon Harrison on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, In : New Products

My range of handmade leather camera straps have gradually been increasing. They now include my signature plaited leather camera wrist straps.
Plaited leather still keeps the strength and durability of a leather camera strap, but adds the
uniqueness of the plaited leather camera strap. Hand stitched for the ultimate style and individuality as always.
Colours include the standard black; Dark Brown which is referred to as Dark Havana; Australian Nut which as a red hue to it; and Tan which was once...

New Dog Collar Ideas

Posted by Simon Harrison on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, In : New Products
I have a few ideas in my head for some new styles of handmade leather dog collars. I thought I might put these ideas to paper - so to speak.

Patent Stripe
This would be a leather dog collar based on my patent stripe browbands and nosebands. A standard traditional leather dog collar with an inserted piece of patent leather. I can't make a collar entirely from patent leather as it is too thin in substance. Therefore the strength will need to be in the normal bridle butt leather that I make all of...

Padded Camera Strap WIP

Posted by Simon Harrison on Saturday, February 28, 2015, In : New Products
A work in progress for a padded camera neck strap. I've worked out the padded neck part but not sure what to put on the ends to connect to the camera. My thinking has been to stick with what I know and buckle a couple of small bridle cheekpieces to the ends with hook billets to connect to the camera fittings. Or should I stitch webbing straps with standard camera fittings? or something else? Any ideas?
As my photos show I haven't got a clue about cameras!
