New Year, New Look, New Leather

Happy New Year!

To bring in the New Year I have revamped my website. I have lost a few pages, added some more and had a general cleanup. I have changed the style to a more modern look that is responsive to the viewing device. A must I think now days as over 80% of my traffic is from mobile devices. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to find what you are looking for.

A common question I receive is “What colour leather is that?” So I have now moved my leather colours to the side of my store page making it easier for you to see exactly what colour leather you need. Hover text shows the name of the colour and a simple click will give you an enlarged image.

I also have a new leather suppler, J&FJ Baker & Co, based in Colyton, Devon. They are the only remaining traditional oak bark tannery in Great Britain. Their unique leather is favoured by distinguished shoemakers & top stables for its quality, durability & finish. The tannery has been in the Baker family for over 150 years allowing them to develop the Oak Bark tanning process for todays demanding requirements.

Oak bark tannage is a long, gentle process that protects the natural fibres of the hide unlike modern tanning methods. The best local hides are chosen and treated in a sustainable process using natural products. It takes 14 months to produce each piece of leather.

Their expert curriers finish the leather by hand with their own special blend of natural oils and greases that protect and feed the leather whilst simultaneously emphasising the natural grain and colour. The result is leather that is unrivalled; hardwearing, strong and with a distinctive colours. I believe the quality and luxury of our leather is testimony to the unique tanning methods and the skilled craftsmanship with which every piece of leather is treated.

J. & F.J. Baker’s team are local craftsmen whose skills and knowledge been handed down through the generations. Some individuals have worked for the company their entire working life. The team’s dedication and years of experience produce the finest results.
These vital elements attribute to J. & F.J. Baker’s distinctive leather, meaning in using their leather I am using leather that has quality, is hardwearing, is visually gratifying, and uniquely crafted for the ultimate in luxury

So why not pay me a visit and find your perfect leather goods for the New Year
