3 inch wide Perth Leather Belt

August 29, 2016

The Perth Leather belt

At 3 inches wide, or 76mm, which ever you prefer, is the widest leather belt that I craft. A dress belt designed to be worn over your outfit.

Leather
As with all of my leather belts I use only top quality bridle butt leather. Bridle butt leather is very strong, yet pliable and supple. It ages beautifully and develops an outstanding individuality. Being made to measure ensures that you have the perfect fit.

Buckle
A solid brass London Dee buckle is used for the Perth leather belt. This is a large buckle that compliments perfectly.

Stitching
The buckle is stitched to the leather belt by hand using the time-honoured skill of the master craftsman. I stitch along the length of the leather helping to keep its strength. The stitches are place at 8 stitches to every inch using two needle, two hand stitching. This style of stitching is much stronger than machine stitching as the linen thread passes through the leather completely before moving to the next stitch.

Adjustment
5 holes spaced at 1 ½ inches allow for adjustment. The measurement that you order will be to the middle of these holes.

New Design Plaited Leather Dog Collar

June 9, 2016
So I have made a new deign of plaited leather dog collar. This collar merges the working dog collar style with a plaited collar. Because, lets face it some working dogs deserve a bit of style!

The first thing that you notice is the solid brass West End buckle providing years of rust free use. The dee ring is at the very end and two fixed loops keep the pint well and truly under control. The leather is a reverse turn here, meaning that the inside of the collar, against your dogs neck, is as smo...

Dog Leads

April 27, 2016
I make many different leather dog leads. The reason being is that we all have different sizes and breeds of dogs, we are all different heights and builds, and we all want our dogs to different things. Some people like to have a well trained dog that walks to heel, others just need the dog to stay safe whilst on a road. A tracking dog needs to be worked at a distance, and a showing dog needs to be worked close. So what lead should you chose?

Standard Dog Lead
My standard lead comes in three diff...

Some Traditional Saddlery Rules

March 6, 2016
I make my leather goods using traditional saddlery methods. These methods have been perfected over hundreds of years. As the art has developed saddlers adopted a set of rules to work to for a uniformity to their products.
I use some of these rules but certainly not all of them
  • Never edge the outside edge of a loop.
  • Adjustment holes are spaced the width of the strap apart (A one inch wide leather belt will have holes spaced at one inch intervals).
  • Always have an odd number of holes in a strap (Thi...
