Additional Leather Loop on a Dog Collar

Posted by Simon Harrison on Thursday, October 12, 2017, In : Products

What is the purpose of an additional loop?
The additional leather loop on one of my handmade leather dog collars serves to hold the point of the dog collar tightly against the collar. The extra loop is the one on the right of the picture, after the dee ring. It is stitched in place and blocked square. It make the collar look nicer by not leaving the point flapping around. It can also help if you have more than one dog that like to chew one another's collars.

Fancy Something Plaited

Posted by Simon Harrison on Sunday, October 1, 2017, In : Products

How about treating your dog to a handmade plaited leather dog collar from Oakside Saddlery. It's not even too late for Christmas to place your order for a bespoke leather dog collar.
My plaited leather dog collars are made from a single piece of Oak Bark Tanned Bridle Leather. This one is full grain London Tan colour from J&FJ Bakers in Colyton. I use a mystery braid to make these leather dog collars. A mystery braid has no cuts across the leather nor any joins to weaken the collar. Have a loo...

Padded and Lined Leather Sighthound Collar

Posted by Simon Harrison on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, In : Products

An option on my handmade leather Sighthound Collars is to have the inside lined and padded. This padding can help to protect a sighthound's long neck when they are on the lead.
I use a soft leather to line the inside of the leather dog collar. This is stitched by hand to the collar. In this collars case the dog collar has also been lined with a thick layer of neoprene between the two pieces of leather. This further reduces pressure on your dog's neck.

Traditional Leather Dog Collar

Posted by Simon Harrison on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, In : Products

Why not treat your best friend to their own leather dog collar. My classic leather dog collars are made from J&FJ Baker's Oak Bark Tanned English Bridle leather. A superior leather that is soft, strong, and supple, perfect for your dog's collar.

Stainless steel West End buckle and dee ring will not rust and will easily last the life of the collar.

Fancy Leather Dog Collar

Posted by Simon Harrison on Saturday, August 5, 2017, In : Products
This is a different collar design for me. Rather than having leather keeper loops the fancy collar uses a solid brass fancy loop to keep the point under control.
A reverse turn keeps the Dee ring, buckle, and loop away from your dog leaving a smoother interior with fewer disturbances making for a more comfortable design for your dog.
A West End roller buckle eases buckling with plenty of room for the leather. When buckled on the middle hole the reverse turn is covered by the leather.

Extra-Wide Dog Collar

Posted by Simon Harrison on Thursday, August 3, 2017, In : Products

Some big dogs may need a collar that is wider than 1 inch but don't need a a massive buckle to go with it. My extra-wide leather dog collar uses a 1 inch buckle and dee ring that tapers out to a wide back. This means that the part of the collar at the front is narrower which can give the dog more room to move their head down.
London colour Full Grain Leather is used on this collar. The leather is from J&FJ Bakers & Co in Devon, it is Oak barked tanned English Bridle Leather, perfect for your d...

Posted by Simon Harrison on Sunday, October 16, 2016, In : News

Fed up with a long, flappy, end on your lovely handmade leather dog collar?
Then simply opt for the additional loop option and I will hand stitch an extra leather loop after the dee ring. This loop keeps the point tightly against the collar and prevents it from spoiling your pets perfect pose for that excellent photograph.
