MEASURING FOR THE PERFECT FIT!
Measuring for a Bespoke leather watch strap
You can work out your size and get a generic, best fit. But if you are ordering your leather watch strap handmade why not have the size made bespoke. This isn't that complicated. Firstly you need to measure your wrist where you wear your watch normally. This gives me your wrist size, obviously! The next measurement you need is across the back of your watch, from strap pin to strap pin. This gives me your watch size.
The other option is measuring your watch strap whilst it is on your watch. Lay your watch out flat and measure from the hole that you are using to the point on the buckle where the pin touches the outside edge. You actually want it a few millimetres inside of the outer edge of the buckle to allow for the thickness of the strap. I will also need your watch lug-to-lug measurement as well.
You could do both and double check that you get the same size. Or confuse yourself even more!
These measurements will allow me to make your handmade leather watch strap bespoke. And when worn fit perfectly on the middle hole. Remember that your wrist changes size throughout the day and that due to thickness of leather sometimes this is not going to be perfect. But we can only try!
If you want to go generic then follow the directions below
Measuring for a watch strap is not as bad as you might think. The problems arise when you take account of the multitude of watch sizes there are.
The first thing that you want to do is measure your wrist. Using a fabric tape measure around your wrist at the place where you would normally wear your watch. Now you have to allow for just how big, or small your watch is. Measure from lug fitting to lug fitting over your watch. The chart below is set for a lug-to-lug measurement of 40mm so you may have to add or subtract from this to work out your size. Now, looking at the chart below, find the size that best fits your wrist.
Another way is to measure a watch strap that you already own and fits you well. Simply lay your watch on a flat surface and measure the strap from the buckle end of the watch strap to the hole that you are using. Then look at the chart again and select your size.
If you really want that bespoke service then simply select your size and leave a note in the order comments with your required size. I will also need the lug-to-lug measurement to work out the right size that you need. I can then make your watch strap bespoke to fit your wrist.

The quintessential attributes of Sedgwick's leather are;

For buckles I use Abbey England.

These handmade leather watch straps are a new line for me. People have been asking me to make them for ages and I finally managed to get around to making one. If you have a design in mind feel free to contact me and I will see what I can do.
They are hard work for me as they seem so thin! I am used to stitching through leather that is possibly three times as thick!
